More than 40 separate dog attacks have been reported in the Isle of Man since 2015

Four sheep have been killed and a lamb orphaned after being attacked by a dog on a farm in the Isle of Man.

Police said it is the third year in a row that sheep have died in a dog attack in the area of Glen Dhoo, near a track leading to Ballaugh Plantation.

On Monday, the Manx government launched a campaign to raise awareness among dog owners about the impact of their pets worrying livestock.

More than 40 separate incidents have been reported since 2015.

The Manx National Farmers' Union General Secretary Andrew Cooper said the incidents ranged from attacks on individual animals to farmers losing entire flocks.

A government spokesman said the campaign was launched to coincide with the spring lambing period when sheep are at "greatest risk".

Police asked anyone with information to contact police headquarters.
