Isle of Man development plan: Views sought over blueprints
- Published
A blueprint for future development in the north and west of the Isle of Man has been put out for consultation.
The draft area plan outlines which areas in the regions can be used for housing or industrial use, and which should be retained as green spaces.
Details in the plan will be taken into account when planning applications are considered in future.
The consultation is available online until 16 September, and will be followed by a public inquiry.
About 250 sites for possible development were put forward as part of the initial publicity for the plan in 2021.
The plan encompasses the towns of Peel and Ramsey, and well as the parishes of German, Patrick, Jurby, Andreas, Bride, Ballaugh, Lezayre and the Maughold ward of Garff.
A spokesman for the government said people were now being asked to "help resolve any outstanding or unforeseen issues, correct errors and refine proposals" before the development road map is confirmed.
A series of drop-in events are being held at the House of Manannan in Peel and Ramsey Town Hall in July to encourage people to come forward with their views.
The latest plan for the north and west of the island follows on from similar plans for the south, which were approved in 2013, and the east, which were voted through in November 2020.
