Official Isle of Man TT merchandise supplier has contract terminated
- Published
The firm licenced to be the official supplier of Isle of Man TT merchandise has had its contract terminated by the Manx government.
Enterprise Minister Tim Johnston MHK said Cube International had "failed to fulfil their required financial obligations" set out in the contract.
He said merchandise was a "key source of income" and the department was now searching for a new supplier.
Cube International has been contacted for comment.
'Protect interests'
The company was first awarded the contract by the Department for Enterprise (DfE) in January and had supplied official merchandise at official TT event shops and local retailers, as well as selling branded products through an online store for the 2023 races.
The firm had been due to continue in the role in 2024.
Mr Johnston said the firm had "failed to fulfil their required financial obligations attached to this contract within the stipulated period", which had left it in breach of the agreement.
He said the decision to terminate the contract "had not been taken lightly", but supplying official merchandise was an "essential" part of the TT and a "key source of income" for local retailers and the department.
While it was understood the termination would have been "unsettling" for those who sell the merchandise, the department had to act to "protect the interests of all involved parties", he added.
A tender process would soon begin to find a new long term official supplier, a DfE spokeswoman said.
