Manx Care nursing opportunities to be outlined at open evening

People interested in a nursing career have been encouraged to find out more about the sector at an open evening.
The session, on Thursday between 18:00 and 20:00 GMT, is part of Manx Care's drive to bolster its nursing numbers.
A recruitment programme to study for a Bachelor of Nursing on the island was launched in November, with the next course starting in September 2024.
Senior lecturer of nursing, Niall Quayle, said the session would give an "insight to what we offer here".
The course is primarily based at Keyll Darree, on the Noble's Hospital site, and offers an immersive learning experience.
Annual bursary
The on-island course has been designed to meet the requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Council and includes studying anatomy as well as physiology, pharmacology, psychology, sociology and research methods.
Those who study on the island have their fees of £9,250 a year for the three-year duration of the course paid for them.
Student nurses also receive an annual bursary of £10,000.
Mr Quayle said the open evening was a chance to discuss the programme, have questions answered and take a tour of Manx Care's facilities.
He said: "Even if you are unsure about what career path you would like to take, we encourage that you register your interest and come along to see what this pathway can offer you."
Members of the Royal College of Nursing recently settled a two-year dispute with Manx Care over pay and conditions for nurses.
