Ferry sailings between the Isle of Man and Lancashire have resumed after two days of disruption due to severe gales over the Irish Sea.

The Manxman set sail for Heysham, with its Douglas-bound return due to depart at 02:15 GMT on Tuesday.

It follows several cancellations to Isle of Man Steam Packet Company sailings since Saturday.

However, the firm said daytime and evening sailings later on Tuesday were in doubt due to returning strong winds.

Ronaldsway Met Office said gusts of up 40mph (64km/h) were due to hit the island during the day, rising to up to 60mph (97km/h) in the evening and the early hours of Wednesday.
