Isle of Man beach clean charity is 'inspiring a generation'
A global award for a beach cleaning charity’s work with Manx schools recognises the efforts of a generation, its founder has said.
With the help of volunteers, Beach Buddies collects about 200 tonnes of waste per year from the Isle of Man's coastline.
Its education programme received an Energy Globe award at a ceremony in Norway in January.
Founder Bill Dale said its work with school pupils was "the most important part of what we do", apart from picking collecting the rubbish itself.
He said the award acknowledged there was a generation of people on the Isle of Man who have helped with litter picks for more than a decade.
