Bird strike damages aircraft engine on Jersey take-off

A plane with 93 passengers and crew on board suffered engine damage when it hit a bird during take-off from Jersey Airport, an investigation has revealed.

The pilot of the Bmibaby flight informed Jersey's Air Traffic Control after taking-off on Monday afternoon.

Upon arrival at Manchester it was confirmed that damage had occurred to one of four engines. There were no reported injuries to anyone on board.

The aircraft was grounded for further inspection.

The bird debris found at Jersey Airport has been sent to the Food & Environment Research Agency in the UK for identification.
