Demand for new allotments in a Jersey parish has been so high, a draw will decide who has been successful.

Thirty plots are being made available at a publicly-leased field at Les Creux country park in St Brelade, but 80 applications have been received.

The Les Creux Allotments Association will run the scheme under the Jersey Allotments and Leisure Gardening Association (JALGA).

Chairman Mike Vibert said it should be up and running by the autumn.

The successful applicants will be expected to abide by JALGA's code of conduct, which includes a ban on pets and radios or music equipment.
