Jersey's unemployment figures continue to rise

The number of unemployed people living in Jersey has continued to rise, new figures have revealed.

States statistics showed there were 1,290 people registered as unemployed and actively seeking work in August, compared with 1,250 in July.

Of those actively seeking work, more than a quarter - a total of 330 people - were teenagers aged 16 to 19.

In August last year there were 380 fewer people registered as unemployed and actively seeking work.
