Jersey 'expects new health deal'

Jersey is expected to have a new health agreement with the UK by 2011.

Two members of the Council of Ministers have confirmed to the BBC that an agreement is expected to be signed soon and come into effect by 1 January 2011.

The island lost the reciprocal health agreement in 2009, which meant that islanders have had to pay for some medical services while in the UK, and vice versa.

Jersey's government has been under pressure to reinstate the agreement.
