There will be direct flights for the first time from Jersey to Poland next Easter when a new service called Pole-Island Direct begins.

The travel company, CI Travel Group, is offering Polish people in Jersey a chance to fly home at Easter.

At the moment most travel to Poland via the UK, which involves a day's travel and sometimes an overnight stay.

There will be weekly flights to Warsaw on Saturdays starting from 16 April 2011.

The journey on the 118-seat jet is expected to take just under three hours.

The company said it is convinced of the need for such a service which it hopes could be the start of more direct flights between Poland and Jersey.
