Jersey domestic violence victims 'will always get help'

Jersey's Women's Refuge says it will never turn away any victims of domestic violence, even if its safe house is full.

The charity provides a confidential service of support, advice and safe accommodation to victims.

It said six out of its seven rooms were currently occupied and that it had been full, or nearly full, for most of 2010.

However, manager Lorna Kearney said the charity would always work to find accommodation if it was needed.

She said: "There's always a safe place for women.

"We always find a way round it if people need a safe place to stay."
