Deputy Duhamel is examining ways of making housing more affordable

A Jersey politician is trying to find ways of providing more affordable housing in the island.

The Assistant Planning and Environment Minister, Deputy Rob Duhamel, is working on the project.

Deputy Duhamel said there was a tendency to add unnecessary "frills" to buildings to push the prices up when all islanders needed was a basic home.

He also said the way people live had changed and new buildings needed to reflect that.
