Extra Jersey post collections due to census forms

Jersey Post has introduced extra collections from post boxes because of the number of census forms being sent.

Over 30,000 households were asked to fill in the forms on Sunday and post them back to the Census office.

A number of people called BBC Jersey to say they could not send their form as post boxes were full.

Katherine Small, from Jersey Post, said staff were out on Sunday collecting mail and have asked people to get in touch if they see a full post box.

She said: "We did anticipate that there would be extra volume given that it is census weekend.

"We have made arrangements accordingly including a collection on Sunday, which we don't normally do.

"We have made extra collections this morning in order to cope and empty as many post boxes as we can."
