Jersey skylines and views policy to be debated

  • Published

A new policy designed to protect Jersey against countryside development is to be debated by the States.

The policy, titled Skylines, Views and Vistas, would examine the impact of developments.

It has been introduced because of pressure for development around the island's coastline, the States said.

Planning Minister Senator Freddie Cohen said he hoped the policy would help "keep the countryside exactly as it is."

He said: "Previously Island Plans have been delivered around using agricultural or green land for the provision of new homes.

"Our plan is to keep the countryside exactly as it is ... and deliver new homes in existing urban areas."
