States of Jersey delay top civil servant appointment

The States of Jersey has decided to wait a year before appointing someone to permanently head the civil service.

Three people were interviewed for the job to replace Bill Ogley as Chief Executive to the States.

The Jersey Appointments Commission decided not to give anyone the job, keeping the acting chief executive, John Richardson in the role.

Mr Richardson has agreed to stay in the role for another year as there will be a new Council of Ministers by then.

Chief Minister, Senator Terry le Sueur, said it was better to wait until there was a new Council of Ministers in office after the elections in October.
