Jersey islanders can suggest public sector cuts

Islanders are being given a chance to give their views on cuts to Jersey's public sector.

The States have launched "Value Jersey" which aims to tell people about cuts to the public sector and to allow for feedback on savings proposals.

It monitors a three-year programme created by the States to permanently reduce annual spending by £65m.

By the end of 2011, the Comprehensive Spending Review will have achieved £12m in annual savings.

The Chief Minister, Senator Terry Le Sueur, said: "This programme of work is much more than a three-year savings programme.

"It will fundamentally restructure, reorganise and reinvigorate the public sector, establishing a framework for lasting change within the States of Jersey."
