Jersey lymphoedema group in clinic room plea

A Jersey group which offers treatment and support for lymphoedema patients is searching for a new home.
Lymphoedema is a swelling of the limbs and body due to the accumulation of lymph, a colourless fluid which forms in the body naturally.
The island group said it was to lose its clinic room from 2 August and was searching for new premises.
It would be used every Tuesday for people who needed bandaging, so any new base needed to allow privacy, it said.
The group has appealed for a room, saying anything volunteered needed to have at least a sink, a bed and secure storage for equipment; plus a secure file cabinet for patient notes.
The chairman of the group, Walter Callendar, said if no place was found soon appointments would have to be postponed.
Post-cancer patients who have lymphoedema are supported free by Jersey Hospice Care.
However, those who contract it without cancer being involved do not, which was why the group was formed.
