Jersey seaside festival to go ahead

Jersey's seaside festival will go ahead in two weeks time despite fears of it failing to find sufficient sponsorship.

Newly-renamed as the Airtel-Vodaphone Jersey Seaside Festival, the event will take place at the Havre des Pas lido on 7 August.

Organiser Mario Pirozzolo said a lack of finance meant the 2011 festival "nearly didn't happen", but he was "delighted" it would do so.

The festival in previous years has drawn crowds of nearly 14,500 people.
