Islanders in Jersey warned over computer repair scams

Islanders in Jersey are being warned to be on their guard against computer repair scams.

The States of Jersey Police said there were a number of suspected scams where people were being called and asked for their personal details.

The scams sometimes involve people posing as computer operating system repair technicians.

Jersey police have urged people not to give away any of their personal bank details.

A spokesperson from the police said: "The types of scams reported to police vary slightly in detail but they all share one main characteristic and that is an attempt to obtain personal details and money from the people they target."

The police said one way to find out about a company which has raised suspicions is to type the alleged company name and "scam" into an internet search engine.
