Jersey Army Cadet Force seeks female instructors

The Royal Jersey Militia Army Cadet Force has said it urgently needs female instructors.

A female member of staff is leaving to go to the Defence Sixth Form College in Leicestershire.

The Army Cadet Force said if it cannot find a replacement, it may no longer be able to include girls in the force.

It said instructors did not need any military experience and would be given the chance to acquire a whole range of new skills.

Dominic Egre, staff sergeant instructor at the Royal Jersey Militia Army Cadet Force, said: "We need to recruit female instructors urgently in order to meet the training needs of our female cadets and provide appropriate child protection cover."

The instructor would need to help female cadets aged between 12 and 18 develop through a large range of challenges and adventures.

Mr Egre said: "It is essential for us to try and attract female staff to help provide a strong base for the female cadets as we are hoping to recruit more girls for our September/October intake."

He said there was space for three women and two men in the force.
