The lifeboat rescued a fisherman and his dog who got stranded on rocks

A fisherman and his dog had to be rescued by a Jersey lifeboat crew.

The RNLI St Catherine's lifeboat said the man had got stranded on the rocks behind Mont Orgueil Castle.

A spokesperson for the RNLI said the lifeboat had been on the scene within 15 minutes of the call on Tuesday night.

Helier de Veulle, a volunteer lifeboat press officer, said the fisherman had been cold and the dog shaken but both were otherwise in good health.

The RNLI said when they arrived the tide had started to fall, the sea was choppy and the fisherman was "relatively exposed" on the rock.

The Coastguard received the call just before 21:00 BST.

Mr de Veulle said both the man and his dog had been taken back to shore at Gorey Harbour on the lifeboat.
