The National Trust wants people in Jersey to encourage wildlife into their gardens

The National Trust for Jersey wants islanders to encourage wildlife into their gardens.

The initiative is the trust's ninth pledge as part of the Green House Project.

It has pledged to increase wildlife habitats at all of its tenanted properties.

It said: "The current tenants have very much welcomed the initiative and are looking forward to monitoring which species they attract to their gardens."

It also wants islanders to help improve the local environment and is offering a prize for the person with the best wildlife habitat.

The Green House project aims to make the National Trust for Jersey more environmentally friendly.
