Ten jobs go at Dandara Jersey because of planning delays

Dandara wants to build new homes at Westmount Quarry on the site of a former parish depot

Building company Dandara Jersey said it is considering cutting 10 jobs because of "delays in the planning process".

It is the second company to cut jobs because of planning issues this week. Seven jobs are going at Premier Contracting.

Dandara said it had been waiting more than 18 months for final clearance for two developments - at Westmount Quarry and Mascot Motors.

Planning permission was granted but the conditions needed to be signed off.

The company employs 324 people and was consulting with the 10 people affected to offer other roles within the Dandara group.

It said it would continue to employ and financially support 14 trade apprentices and junior professional staff who were taking courses at Highlands College.

Meanwhile, Dandara is putting forward plans for 53 homes on the Jersey Pottery site in Gorey - one more home than the current permit allows.
