Jersey unemployment rose in September

The number of people unemployed in Jersey rose by 20 between August and September.

The States of Jersey Statistics Unit said 1,370 people were actively seeking work in the island.

The number had stayed the same in July and August.

Latest figures showed the number of people unemployed for a year or more had doubled over the past year, and now makes up one in five of the total number of unemployed people.
