Record numbers for Trinity Crib Service in Jersey

A record number of people watched a crib service in Jersey this year, say organisers.

Nearly 2,500 people saw the Christmas nativity service, which was held inside the Exhibition Hall at the Royal Jersey Showground in Trinity for the first time instead of in a marquee.

Organiser Canon Geoff Houghton said he was surprised to see an extra 1,000 people turn up this year.

The crowd could have filled the Jersey Opera House four times over.

Canon Houghton said: "I think there's a hankering still among people still to hear the true Christmas story and we were delighted to be able to pack so many in this year to do that."

"We were able to get so many more in than in the marquee which was wonderful."
