The Jersey Special Gymnastics Club was given £6,590 to fund off island trips.

The One Foundation has donated the money to pay for 28 gymnasts to compete in three UK competitions.

The money will also fund all required carers and the coaching team to go along.

John Grady, head coach, said: "Without this kind of support, Jersey Special Gymnastics Club would never have been able to achieve the success it has enjoyed over the years."

The competitions are the British Gymnastic NDP Finals in April, the Poole Open in October and the British Open in November.

Kevin Lemasney, the chairman of the One Foundation said: "We are delighted to support the Jersey Special Gymnastics Club.

"They are extremely professional and a jewel in the crown within the local sporting community.

"The club is expertly run by John Grady and his team of dedicated volunteers who give their time to enable young people with special needs to take part in a valued community activity; artistic gymnastics.

"We are delighted to have received funds to support them and wish them every success in 2012."
