More equipment is needed for deaf people in Jersey

There needs to be more equipment in public buildings to help deaf people in Jersey, says a specialist.

There are 4,500 hearing aid users in Jersey including 70 children.

An audit, paid for by the Jersey Deaf Society, found more facilities were needed for people with hearing difficulties in banks, the police station and the hospital.

Angela Goddard, from Jersey's Hearing Resource Centre, said hearing loops were needed.

She said the audit was commissioned by the Jersey Deaf Society after their members reported difficulties in some places in the island.
