Jersey Met Office expects fog to return

Fog which grounded flights for several days could return to Jersey, according to Met Office forecasters.

Poor visibility put planes at a standstill last week, disrupting travel plans of about 10,000 passengers.

Jersey Met Office said the fog and low cloud could return over the next two days but it did not expect flights to be as badly affected.

Fog led to most flights cancelled and ferries full between Thursday and Sunday.

As well as causing problems for travellers, it led to a number of events being cancelled.

Jersey's cinema had to cancel some screenings of new films which they were unable to bring into the island because of the fog.

Eric Faulkner's Bay City Rollers were due to play a gig at the Royal Yacht on Saturday but could not get to Jersey.

And DJ John Digweed had to fly to France and then get a private boat to Jersey in order to perform on Saturday night.

There were also no national newspapers in the island during the fog.
