HSBC has announced it is to cut 90 jobs in Jersey as part of a restructuring of the bank across the UK.

Six people in Guernsey and four in the Isle of Man are also being made redundant.

The bank said just over 2,200 staff would lose their jobs across the UK.

Its Channel Islands and Isle of Man chief executive, Nick Winsor, said efforts would be made to find people posts elsewhere in the company.

The announcement follows the bank's decision to cut around 30,000 posts worldwide.

HSBC is one of Jersey's largest employers.

Mr Winsor said the company was still committed to the Channel Islands, but it was inevitable the impact of the national cuts in the bank would also be felt there.

He said there were more than 40 vacancies and new job opportunities available and the bank would be working closely with all staff affected to help them find new roles.

The bank said the cuts would mostly affect senior and middle managers.

No high street branches will close.
