Awards for Jersey at Chelsea Flower show

Both the Jersey entrants in the RHS Chelsea Flower Show have won an award.

Jersey Farmers Union won a gold award at the event in the vegetable and herbs category.

The Parish of St Helier won a silver-gilt award for their bedding plant display celebrating the Diamond Jubilee.

The St Helier team had 16 weeks to prepare for the Chelsea Flower Show after being offered a spot as a late entrant.

Dale Hector from St Helier Parks and Gardens Department said: "We were hoping we could nick a silver the first time but the silver-gilt is the hundreds and thousands and icing with a cherry on top."
