Pupils in Jersey will be able to learn computer skills from technology experts during new after-school clubs.

There are pilot schemes at four secondary schools; Le Rocquier, Haute Vallee, Jersey College for Girls and Hautlieu School.

The classes will be taught by staff from Jersey's information technology companies.

The teenagers will learn a number of skills useful for a career in IT including programming and development.

The education department E-Learning Manager, Jon Tarrant, said: "We are already talking to the British Computer Society in Jersey to find ways of building on this kind of IT learning in the future."
