New deacon Brendan Flaxman takes up Jersey role

A new full time deacon has been ordained into the Catholic Church in Jersey.

Brendan Flaxman, who is a former policeman, was ordained by The Right Reverend Crispian Hollis, Bishop of Portsmouth.

The deacon will work within the Catholic deanery in the island.

He said that it was a "great honour and privilege" to serve the people of the largest of the Channel Islands and the diocese of Portsmouth.
