The interim chief executive of Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust is moving to Jersey to work for the island's Health and Social Services.

Helen O'Shea, who has been in the post for a year, is expected to take up her new position later in the year.

Although she was "thoroughly enjoying" her role in Plymouth, Ms O'Shea said the opportunity in Jersey had been too good to ignore.

Ms O'Shea will be in charge of Jersey General Hospital.

"I will be the managing director for the acute hospital, ambulance service and all the estates for health and social care for the island of Jersey," she said.

"I am naturally delighted to have been offered this opportunity."

Margaret Schwarz, vice-chair of the Plymouth trust, said: "We will be sorry to lose her but, when she assumes her post, Helen will be able to share information with us on how health and social care are integrated in Jersey."
