The new operator of Jersey's bus service will interview all of the current drivers by the start of October.

CT Plus Jersey will take over the service from Connex in January and after a public vote announced it would be called LibertyBus.

Chief Executive Dai Powell said: "We expect to make job offers at the time and that the majority will accept."

The company said it still needed more drivers and invited people to apply.

'£40,000 a year'

Mr Powell said: ""We do expect to advertise for more drivers and I'd like to encourage the Jersey public to apply.

"We can offer packages that will enable people to earn circa £40,000 a year plus benefits."

CT Plus asked people in Jersey to decide the name of the service and the design. They will now hold a series of public meetings to get views on how it should operate.

Connex, which has run the bus service in Jersey for 10 years, will be taking its fleet of buses with it.

CT Plus said that the new fleet had been designed with the islanders' smaller roads and "transport requirements" in mind.

The service will run double deckers on the main airport route, with the bulk of the remaining fleet made up of slimline single-decker buses.
