Jersey honey for Royal jubilee despite poor summer

  • Published

Jersey bee keepers have collected enough honey to present to the Queen to celebrate her Diamond Jubilee despite an "appalling" summer.

Bob Hogge, president of the Jersey Beekeepers Association, says the poor summer led to low production.

He said collecting enough honey had been a challenge but they had managed to make about 30 jars.

"Bees need sunshine to and if they don't get it they go inside and get miserable," he said.
