Unemployment in Jersey continues to rise, according to figures released by the government.

At the end of December 1,840 were registered as unemployed, the highest recorded level, according to the States Statistics Unit.

It was 20 more than in February and November, when the previous highest levels were set and exactly 300 more than at the end of 2011.

More than 300 of those registered have been out of work for more than a year.
