Jersey States pressed on more housing

  • Published

Jersey States is facing calls to release more unused land for new homes.

Treasury Minister Philip Ozouf is asking the Council of Ministers to back proposals to increase housing zones around the island.

He said the island's successful economy had led to house prices beyond the means of some people including key public service workers such as nurses.

He said for example that some unused glasshouse sites could be rezoned for housing.

"We need the homes, so let's use the economic downturn to get good value and it can truly be a win-win situation for all," he said.
