Man of Steel stars visit Jersey for island screening

Thousands of people lined the red carpet on St Helier's waterfront for the island screening of Man of Steel starring Jersey born actor Henry Cavill.

People dressed up to meet Cavill alongside co-stars Amy Adams and Russell Crowe.

Even dogs got into the spirit of the occasion.

The film, which opened in the UK on 14 June is directed by Zack Snyder who said Cavill would constantly talk about Jersey.

Cavill was born in the island and went to St Michael's School until he turned 13 before heading off to Stowe.

Some fans arrived at 10:00 BST in the hope of getting a good spot next to the red carpet. The stars arrived at 18:00 BST.

Oscar winner Russell Crowe spent time signing autographs for fans and described Jersey as "spectacular".

Cavill said it was amazing to be able to showcase a film he put his heart and soul into in his home island.
