There are about 99,000 people living in Jersey

The number of people living in Jersey rose last year by 900 to 99,000, according to the latest population figures.

Most of the population increase came from immigration, with about 500 people moving to Jersey in 2012.

The other 400 people was the difference between births and deaths.

Duncan Gibaut, chief statistician for the States of Jersey, says while population growth is rising it is slowing down.

He said the natural growth figure, the difference between births and deaths, was at the highest level for at least 30 years.

The report shows the resident population of Jersey has increased by almost 10,000 during the past 10 years.
