Jersey dog owners warned over 'substance' on beaches

Dog owners are being warned to keep their pets clear of a white substance reported on some of Jersey's south coast beaches.

The warning follows the death of a dog in Cornwall which had eaten palm oil washed up on the coast.

Ian Cox, from New Era Vets, said the substance found in Jersey had not yet been identified but was very similar.

He said the advice for dog owners was to keep their dogs on leads and away from any deposits.

The white, waxy, strong smelling substance has been reported at Ouaisne Bay, St Brelade's Bay and St Ouen's Bay.
