Severe storm 'could hit Jersey', say forecasters
- Published
A severe storm likely to cause "structural damage" could hit Jersey late on Sunday, according to the Jersey Met Office.
The forecast is for heavy rain and southerly severe gales with gusts likely to exceed 80mph on Sunday evening and into Monday.
Forecasters have warned it could cause damage to buildings and trees.
Barry Goldman, chief operating officer for the Port of Jersey, has advised boat owners to check their moorings.
He said people should not be lulled into a false sense of security following the calm summer months.
