St Mary's parochial authority will implement a 20mph speed limit on Friday on a main route through the parish.

The limit will extend from the parish boundary near St Mary's Arsenal to the crossroads at Rue de Belair.

Constable Juliette Gallichan said the restriction was a temporary measure, ahead of a future changes.

"We've been working very closely with Transport and Technical Services to develop a scheme that will physically slow traffic," she said.

"Once the plan is finalized it will go out to consultation and work will start towards the end of the year."

The new layout will include raised road tables, new pavements and shared space.
