Commonwealth Youth Games: Jersey in 2021 bid

Jersey will bid to host the Commonwealth Youth Games in 2021, it has been confirmed.

Assistant Chief Minister Paul Routier said Jersey was "fortunate to have very good facilities".

He said the Council of Ministers "were fully behind" the bid.

The games, which are for children aged between 14 and 18 years old, were held in the Isle of Man in 2011 and will be held in Samoa, in the South Pacific, in September.

The first Commonwealth Youth Games was held in Edinburgh in 2000 when more than 700 Athletes from 14 countries competed in eight sports over three days.
