The government says the growth of air links to Jersey is a key priority of its visitor strategy

An action plan has been launched to address the long-term future of Jersey's tourism industry.

The Visitor Economy Strategy for Jersey sets out objectives aimed at ensuring the success of the visitor and hospitality sectors.

The plan has been developed by the government and industry members.

Officials said the vision was for Jersey to be a "globally recognised, sustainable and enriching destination that islanders are proud to share".

The strategy focuses on 48 policy priorities, ranging from the growth of the island's air links, to investment in accommodation.

The minister for sustainable economic development, Deputy Kirsten Morel, said: "We all have a part to play in the future of the industry, and that is an important message for all islanders: you are part of the visitor economy and can contribute to its future."

Figures from the tourism body, Visit Jersey, said visitors spent 2.7 million nights in the island in 2019, spending almost £300m.
