Dog licences double in price after 31 January
Dog owners in Jersey are being reminded to renew their licences before the end of January.
Licences cost £10 until the end of the month then the price doubles to £20 from February.
A new online licensing service, external is proving popular with about 4,000 bought via the website since 1 January.
There are 4,000 dog licences that have yet to be renewed and the Comité des Connétables is encouraging those owners not to delay.
Paper applications are still accepted but of the more than 5,000 licences bought this year, 80% were secured through the website service, they said.
Chairman of the Comité des Connétables, Mike Jackson, said: "We are delighted that doglicences.je has been well received and that owners find it provides a simple, quick process to apply and pay for a dog licence."
Anyone wishing to keep a dog over the age of six months must buy a licence, unless the dog is trained to assist a blind or deaf person.
