BBC Radio Jersey's Make a Difference Awards are up and running and open for nominations.

The campaign is an annual BBC local radio initiative launched at the height of the pandemic.

It celebrates the people and groups who go above and beyond to help others in the island.

The Jersey Lifeboat Association won it last year and Simon O'Donoghue from the JLA said it was the perfect reward for all the crew's hard work.

"They get called out on a Friday night, they're having a dinner party, they can't go, they have to go off on a rescue," he said.

"There's a lot of commitment from all these people and there's all walks of life getting involved.

"So to see that satisfaction coming through with this award is fantastic."

Nominations can be made until 10 March, with the finalists announced in May.
