Plans to control how often the cost of renting a house can go up by in Jersey are being considered, the housing minister has said.

Deputy Sam Mezec said "rent stabilisation measures" would be in the new Residential Tenancy Law.

He said they were "likely to include" considerations for notice periods required for rent reviews, and how much rent could be increased in one action.

The chief economist and his team will also help advise with the new law.

Mr Mezec unveiled plans to provide £10m to help people buy their first home, but the scheme was criticised as not helping Jersey's "housing crisis".
