Lifeguards are returning to Jersey in 2024 after two weeks of training

RNLI lifeguards are returning to Jersey's Le Braye beach over the Easter holidays from Friday until 14 April, the charity says.

They will then be weekend-only before going full-time from 4 May until 3 November.

Elsewhere, daily patrols will get under way at El Tico and Watersplash at St Ouens, Plemont, Greve de Leq and St Brelade's Bay from 25 May.

In 2022, island lifeguards dealt with 329 incidents and helped 390 people.

'Different elements'

Bosses said lifeguards had had "a busy two weeks of pre-season training, which has included essential skills in casualty care, fitness testing, lifesaving skills in and out of the water and water craft operations".

They said: "The RNLI works in partnership with the States of Jersey government each year to set up and roll out a lifeguard service.

"Setting up a lifeguard service... involves several different elements, including recruiting and training lifeguards, and organising the logistics to deliver equipment to the beaches."

The charity said anyone visiting the coast should make sure they kept themselves and their families safe by following beach safety advice, external.
