Jersey police officer sacked after alleged misconduct

A Jersey police officer has been sacked following allegations of misconduct.
The States of Jersey Police dismissed the junior officer on Thursday after an investigation by its Professional Standards Department.
The department considered potential criminal offences but said the "necessary evidential threshold" was not reached.
It did rule the officer's conduct "fell significantly short" of the high standards of conduct expected.
'Trust and confidence'
The off-duty junior officer was within their initial probationary period when the alleged misconduct took place, the force said.
Deputy Chief Officer Scott Hall said the force holds all of its officers and staff to "the highest levels of conduct, both on and off-duty".
"The trust and confidence of the public are paramount to us," he said.
Mr Hall said the force will deal "robustly" with any instance where standards are not met.
He said the decision reflected the force's commitment to "maintaining the integrity and professionalism".
